Well, this has gotta be the most feel-good tv series concept I’ve heard of in a long time.
ABC will soon be launching a slick-looking tv series about an Aboriginal superhero.

Cleverman, conceived by Ryan Griffen, is set in the future and deeply rooted in Aboriginal mythology. It features an 80% Indigenous cast including Hunter Page-Lochard (recently seen in Spear), Rob Collins (The Lion King musical) and Deborah Mailman (The Sapphires), as well as being directed by Warne Blair (The Sapphires) and Leah Purcell (Redfern Now).

Could this BE any more exciting? Making deeply political statements in a unique way, telling stories that need to be told, and putting some of our best local talent in the spotlight. Tick.

This show has my approval and undivided attention, I can’t wait.

TRAILER:

Cleverman launches in Australia on ABC and ABC iView on Thursday, June 2 at 9:30pm.
