Melbournians Stina Tester and Cinta Masters have arrived with a taste of the great stuff to come on their debut album.

These guys play what the presser describes as “experimental synth punk”, and I don’t really know how else to add to that. I guess you could say it’s stylistically connected to the 80s. You can expect pulsing rhythms, screeching guitars (or is it a synth? probably) and overlapping occasionally harmonising vocals. Parts of this remind me of The Slits, B-52’s and Tom Tom Club but there’s a much darker industrial component as well. I’ve been listening to Roxette exclusively for the past month so I’m a little pop-broken and having trouble adequately describing their complex and wonderful music. Why don’t you just LISTEN to the song? I embedded it for you especially!

If you dig it, pre-order the whole bloody LP “Awake and Dreaming” right here from Polyester.

These guys are amongst the earliest batch of signings to exciting new feminist and LGBTQIA+ focused label Listen Records. Keep an eye on Listen while you’re at it – they’re doing (and have already done) amazing things.
